Who Are The SLCSE Jackalopes?
The Salt Lake Center for Science Education (SLCSE, pronounced “slick-see”) Jackalopes mountain bike club is an all-inclusive junior development and high school team. SLCSE is a small public charter school within the Salt Lake School District, nestled just outside of Salt Lake City in Rose Park. Specializing in STEM, SLCSE is known for its cultural diversity and inclusivity. The Jackalopes team is sanctioned through the Utah High School Cycling League and the NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association).

At SLCSE, school is taken seriously. Yet, our mascot is the Jackalope – a creature that contradicts the absolutes of science. Just like the Jackalope, our team is unique, quirky, and ready to tackle challenges with a smile. So join the warren and help us make mountain biking accessible for all kids in our community!
What Makes Us Unique?
Our team is one of the smaller clubs in the Utah NICA league. The 2024 Jackalope roster includes 29 athletes and 13 certified coaches. This means your contribution will go a long way.

Everyone Rides
We have ride groups for all levels of our student-athletes. Many of our athletes have never mountain biked prior to joining the team. Our supportive culture encourages more beginner riders to join each year.

Amazing Coaching
The foundation of our success is a deep pool of parent volunteers. Some coaches are seasoned riders with decent bike mechanic skills. Others provide support and encouragement while taking on responsibilities off the bike.

Team Camaraderie
Whenever possible, we camp and cook together for events. Our riders form close friendships during and after the mountain bike season. We always podium when it comes to spending time together as a group of like-minded friends.
